Welcome back to our second moodboard in this series, inspired by BBC's Interior Design Masters. In Episode 2 we saw the designers create three exceptional open plan office designs, showcasing some brilliant techniques and design styles.
In case you missed our Show Home Chic Moodboard last week, I have set Becca (House of Three London) and I the challenge of creating a design scheme using only items featured in each episode. And we have to use at least one product from each of the designers too.
Instead of creating a moodboard for an open plan office space, we wanted to translate some of the techniques we saw in Episode 2 and show you how you can try something similar, if you have open plan areas in your home.
OPEN PLAN LIVING
This week we wanted to create a moodboard with lots of greenery, reclaimed and vintage furniture with an element of fun too. We had to include a swing, inspired by Amy Wilson Interiors didn't we!
Charlotte Beevor and Lynsey Ford's designs both featured a DIY wall mural but if you don't fancy getting artistic, we have found this gorgeous window mural from Rebel Walls that became the starting point for the rest of the scheme.
Paul (Moneypenny Interiors) created an impressive suspended foliage ceiling light feature, which was another standout from the episode so we have found this light fitting which comes with greenery included!
It's a great idea to use open shelving as a divider in an open plan space, and we love this unit from La Redoute. We're still so impressed by Barbara's room divider installations in the Tech office, which carved out distinct work spaces but allowed the whole office to feel connected.
You might have also spotted we have incorporated Team Tech's use of arches to link the spaces, as well as providing a sense of grounding in each area.
As many of us are working from home at the moment, it's a great option to look for vintage pieces that can double up as a designated workspace. Take inspiration from Micaela Sharp, and find a retro writing bureau that you can close up at the end of the day.
Other items featured here are:
Neon Wall Sign inspired by Interior Curve
Bench Seating inspired by Space Maker Interiors
Chairs and sheer curtains inspired by Jonathan Scott Interiors
Hairpin Dining Table inspired by Charlotte Beevor
Feature Lightbulbs inspired by Team Tech
What do you think? Which pieces would you have used from Episode 2? And will you be trying any of these techniques in your own home?
