Blog post

As I have been pinning like mad, trying to figure out where to go for all the kitchen bits & bobs for the London flat I thought it made sense to write a blog post about it. Maybe you’re kitting out a new kitchen yourself, or just looking to give your kitchenware a bit of a summer refresh. Either way, I have also made a Pinterest board with all of these goodies plus a few alternatives that I couldn’t resist including so take a look here if you’re interested.

I’ve searched mostly on the high street, online or in the supermarket aisles and cannot believe some of the gems I’ve found! As you can see I’m going for a lot of neutrals with a bit of a scandi/boho vibe and a few pops of green – it’s an open plan space so this will tie in the lounge side of the room.

Starting with crockery, I am really loving the mix + match look at the moment. I just love how you can swap things in and out when you want a bit of a seasonal update, and you can dress it up for a smarter occasion but for the most part embrace that casual dining feel. Who wants to feel uptight at the dinner table anyway?

So I’ve found some different options for our plates and bowls. See what I mean about the mixing + matching!

Clockwise from top left:

  1. Set of 4 Country Luxe Pasta Bowls £20 – Next
  2. Set of 4 Ribbed Side Plates £8 – George at Asda
  3. 12 Piece Fairford Dinner Set £48 – Next
  4. Set of 4 Elements 27cm Dinner Plates £23.99 – Wayfair
  5. Bohemian Wanderer Cereal Bowl £3.75 – Sainsbury’s Home
  6. Jamie Oliver 28cm Large White Serving Bowl £12.99- TKMaxx

And I should also mention at this point, our dream cutlery is from Robert Welch so I’m on the hunt for a more affordable alternative but I thought I’d give them a mention as they are so beautiful! This is the Vista Bright Cutlery Set and you can lay the knives blade down which just looks so smart!

Next up, drinksware. Did you know you can get Villeroy & Boch from Tesco? I absolutely love these tumblers, and most importantly they’re dishwasher safe! And these New Look mugs would not look out of place in Anthropologie don’t you think?

  1. Villeroy and Boch Entree Tumbler £6.95 – Tesco
  2. Vista Lead Free Crystal 400ml White Wine Glass £24.99 for Set of 6 – Wayfair
  3. Black Floral Tile Print Mug £6.99 – New Look

So one of my favourite places to style has got to be the dining table. And the high street is absolutely killing it at the moment for gorgeous tableware, serving boards and more!

Clockwise from top left:

  1. Garden Trading XL Slate Pizza Board £20 – Next
  2. Porcelain Bowl in White & Palm Print £3.99 – H&M
  3. Black Metal Salad Servers £8.99 – H&M
  4. MasterClass Large Natural Mango Plank £23 – Next
  5. Braided Tray £9.99 – H&M
  6. Palm Print Dip Bowl £3 – Sainsbury’s Home
  7. Dark Grey Round Jute Table Mat £6.99 – H&M
  8. Celestial Coaster in Slate £8 – Anthropologie
  9. Premium Quality Washed Linen Napkin in Light Grey £3.99 – H&M

And all that’s left is a few pieces that I have my eye on to keep in the kitchen, as opposed to using on the table. I’ve always liked the idea of having a wire basket to keep a few well used recipe books on the side for easy access and absolutely love this one from Sainsbury’s Home. You’ll notice in the top image I’ve also included two recipe books – I have the Tom’s Table one, and can highly recommend it! But the Roots book is one I have been eyeing up in Waterstones for a while so I think it might make it’s way into my basket some time soon!

A good pestle & mortar is essential isn’t it? Have you ever watched Jamie Oliver? He’s always mashing up something or other in one it seems. I’m quite keep to bring in a lot of natural textures too, hence the wooden accessories and woven/jute tableware so I loved these salt & pepper mills from Amazon, and something new I’d really like to try is a bamboo steamer. Have you used one before? I’d love some top tips!

Clockwise from top left:

  1. Wooden Kitchen Salt & Pepper Mill £14.27 for one – Amazon
  2. Linen Blend Tea Towels £6.99 each – H&M
  3. Pestle & Mortar £15.99 – Wayfair
  4. Three Layer Bamboo Food Steamer £7.99 – TKMaxx
  5. White Oriental Canister £8 – Sainsbury’s Home
  6. Helsinski Black Wire Basket £8 – Sainsbury’s Home

So like I said, there’s a Pinterest board with all of these on plus a few extras if you fancy a mooch. And let me know in the comments if you like to give your kitchen or dining areas a summer update!

Thanks so much for reading
